Black Days
We visited Bulgaria to purchase a home with land & potential. Prior to leaving the UK we arranged with an agent in Veliko Turnovo, an appointment to see our chosen property. After arriving we were told that this property was sold & our hotel room had been given to someone else! We then wasted 3 days looking at unsuitable properties! The agent was indifferent & ultimately left us to our own devices. Veliko’s other property agents offered conflicting information - often showing a lower window price than the actual price. We were disappointed & thought about returning to the UK.
White Knights aka Roger Turner & Gheorghi Ivanov of ‘A Home In Bulgaria’ (AHIB)
With a final enthusiasm, we emailed AHIB from the Hotel Tsarevets. We were interested in one property only. Roger Turner reacted quickly to our SOS and he & Gheorghi Ivanov collected us from our hotel the next day. My wife, Ava and I were then introduced to an old-fashioned, top-class property buying service. They took us on a viewing itinerary & helped us to better understand the Bulgarian property market. They clarified matters & made things easy to understand. Nothing was too much trouble for these professionals. They quickly took on board our needs & requirements & addressed all issues with meaningful input. Their conversation was encouraging & their manner was ‘can do’ rather than ‘cannot do.’ We were never disappointed with their intent, integrity or ability. Our confidence in their knowledge was immediate. We twice viewed our chosen property, & agreed to buy this nice-looking 1950’s brick-built rural property situated between Svishtov and Pavlikeni. AHIB’s post-agreement services were comprehensive & very relevant to our immediate needs:
*Driving us to a responsible firm of lawyers
*Taking us through the various legal processes
*Translating & advising on all papers needed in order to set up the OOD (PLC).
*Taking us to set up & open our own OOD bank account & paying in monies.
*Taking us, with a lawyer, to the public notary so that he could register our company in Bulgaria.
*Accepting full power of attorney from us, so allowing us the flexibility to return immediately to the UK.
We would never have offered a power of attorney to any other agent whom we met prior to meeting AHIB but felt supremely confident in placing our business & monetary affairs in their hands. AHIB advised us at the start exactly what their professional fees would be & these never altered. Their charges represented money very well spent when we consider all the help they extended. AHIB have regularly liaised with both the vendors & ourselves, & we have yet to see a single question left unanswered. Their manner, attitude and willingness to go the extra mile have greatly impressed us. My wife & I have no hesitation in unreservedly recommending AHIB’s services to any would-be buyers. Hi Roger, I thought i would just drop you a line now that our feet have landed on the ground back in the UK as i would like to thank you (and not forgeting George) for all of your help during the purchase of my latest property in Bulgaria.
As you are aware we already own property in Bulgaria but you just went that little bit further than other companies go to make the whole process easier, as i said to George the day we were running around re, registering the Water and Electric into my name other companies leave that to you to do for yourself and it is not that easy unless you hire an Interpereter and even then it is a chore.
So once again a huge thank you to you both and look forward to seeing you again.

We dealt with roger turner (the owner) while selling our house in bulgaria and what a joy it has been. If only we'd known him when we bought the house, we might still be there now!
The sale of our property went without a hitch and roger worked above and beyond the call of duty for us. Would reccomend anyone buying or selling a property to give him a bell....

having just bought a property in Bulgaria through Roger and Georgi we can honestly say that from start to finish A HOME IN BULGARIA was the complete package, from arranging the hotel, visting various properties all over region, setting up of a company plus new bank accounts, personel and business. With this we were able to make Roger the power of attorney which we felt more than happy with; we were then able to return to the UK to get on with our day to day activities knowing that everything was in good hands;and so it was . Roger kept in touch with us regarding everything that went on leading up to the purchase of the property, at no time were we presured into any situation nor felt uncomfortable about any one thing.Even though we have only known Roger and Georgi for a short time we regard them as good friends rather than business associates and wouldnt hesitate to recomend them to anyone wishing to buy in Bulgaria. When I see the words 'professional' and 'friendly' in the first sentence of a review, I usually find myself saying the words 'cliche' and 'cheesy' on the account they are so often used. But, if you add the word 'genuine', with real meaning, then it really befits these guys very well.
If you've brought a property before, either home or abroad, then you'll be familiar with estate agent hidden tricks, like booking a viewing from 'lovely, cheap' properties on their site to find you've wasted a long journey as 'they've just been sold last week, but we have some others we can show you?!'. Well you'll be pleasantly surprised by the good selection and quality of properties on their books with, I might add, good access at very reasonable prices.
We finally brought our 'Dream' house from these guys a year and half ago after mulling over a selection of good alternative options that we got to view with them.
The whole process from start to finish was completely time-wasting and hassle free.
If your considering buying a property in this area then you'll do well to pay Roger and Georgi a visit, and like us, relax and enjoy their company as they enlighten you on what this beautiful region has to offer.
We WILL be purchasing from them again in the near future.

Roger & Gheorghi are possibly the most genuine people selling property in BG,
Both my wife and I have been on three viewing trips with them in the past 2 years and have become not just a prospective client, but good friends.
After a hard days viewing with them the day is not over until they have taken you to one of their many recommended restaurants and enjoyed the local cuisine
together with a few bottles of excellent wine.
They not only look after you during your stay but collect and return you to your airport.
One important point to mention, not only does Gheorghi speak excellent English, he also has the native tongue of a Bulgarian, so you have a Interpreter with you for the whole of your stay.
Finally there charges are extremely reasonable, therefore I would recommend their services if you intend buying in BG

I cannot praise the staff at A Home in Bulgaria enough. They are a very professional company and nothing was too much trouble for them. We looked at several houses until we found the one we loved and bought. They helped us through all the official handlings of the sale and made sure we thoroughly understood everything that was going on. Even well after the sale had gone through they have been a valuable source of help and information. We are more than happy to recommend this company

We bought a property through 'A Home in Bulgaria' in 2007. We were very pleased with their efficient service and their detailed local knowledge of the area. When issues specific to the property and to our purchase arose, staff at 'A Home in Bulgaria' worked with us to resolve these step by step to our full satisfaction. We found all members of staff highly approachable even with the simplest of questions and, their non-pushy approach reassuring.
We would certainly recommend them to others (and already have). In a field where there is so much competition, working with someone trustworthy, reliable and with a good reputation is vital to make sure the property process runs smoothly.

I have bought two properties through this company who acted professionally on both occassions. They helped with all the legal aspects, setting up of companies, opening of bank accounts etc. with the minimum of fuss.

We used this company in March 2008 to buy a property and found them to be very professional. Having spent 2 months looking for the right property nothing was too much trouble for them. We were out in snow, rain and sun and all the time they had a smile on their faces trying to find us exactly what we wanted. Having found the right place we learnt that there were some boundary issues and we thought we may have to pull out of the purchase, no problem for Roger and George, they did everything for us and all we had to do throughout the entire buying process was turn up and sign the relevant documents. All in all a slick company who we felt comfortable and safe with all the time we were dealing with them.
